What your AI employee can do here

Available now

  • See your channels

Read only, no approval needed. Public channels only, up to 100.

  • Post a scheduled briefing to a channel

Runs the way you set it up. An automation's briefing posts to the channel you picked when you set it up, without a separate approval.

Coming

  • Post a message as part of a task

Waits for your approval until you trust the employee. The send path exists, but no employee task creates a Slack message yet.

  • Ask you to approve a draft in Slack

Runs the way you set it up. Approve and Reject buttons in Slack. Today the briefing only shows how many drafts are waiting.

  • Reply in a Slack thread

Waits for your approval until you trust the employee.

  • Read recent messages in a channel

Read only, no approval needed. Slack limits apps outside its Marketplace to 15 messages per request, once a minute.

  • Answer when you @mention it in Slack

Waits for your approval until you trust the employee. Needs an extra Slack permission PW does not ask for today.

  • Message a teammate directly

Waits for your approval until you trust the employee. Needs an extra Slack permission PW does not ask for today.

  • React to a message

Waits for your approval until you trust the employee. Needs an extra Slack permission PW does not ask for today.

How to connect

  1. Open Workspace → Connections.
  2. Choose Slack and press Connect.
  3. Sign in to Slack and approve the permissions PW asks for.
  4. Pick the Slack workspace to connect.
  5. In Slack, add the PW app to each channel it should post to (type /invite @ followed by the app name in that channel).
  6. To get briefings in Slack, open the automation in PW and paste the channel ID (in Slack: open the channel name, then copy the ID at the bottom).
  7. Back in PW, choose what each AI employee may do with the connection.

Approvals and trust

Reading never needs your approval. Anything your AI employee writes or sends lands in Needs review first, and you approve it there. As you approve more of an employee's work you can trust it with a kind of work, and from then on that work runs on its own. Some actions, like public posts, always wait for you.

How employees earn trust

Limits

  • PW posts only to channels the PW app has been added to.
  • PW sees public channels only, and lists up to 100 of them.
  • PW does not read messages, direct messages or threads today.
  • Slack allows about one message per second in each channel.
  • Approvals happen in PW, not in Slack, today.

Questions

What can my AI employee do in Slack today?

List your public channels when you ask in Chat, and post a scheduled briefing, such as the morning briefing, to the channel you chose for that automation.

Can my AI employee read our messages or DMs?

No. PW asks Slack for permission to read public channel history, but nothing in PW reads it today. It never reads direct messages.

Will it post without asking me?

Only the briefings you set up. When you add a Slack channel to an automation, each run posts there without a separate approval. Nothing else posts to Slack today.

Can I approve drafts from Slack?

Not yet. The briefing tells you how many drafts are waiting; you approve them in PW.

What does PW keep from Slack?

The workspace name and ID and the sign-in token. When you ask for your channels in Chat, the channel names are saved in that employee's chat history and sent to the AI model your workspace uses. Briefings are saved in chat history whether or not they go to Slack.

What happens if I disconnect?

PW deletes its stored sign-in and briefings stop posting to Slack; they still appear in Chat. Messages already posted stay in Slack. You can also remove the app in Slack's app settings.

Why did my briefing not show up in Slack?

Usually the PW app was not added to that channel, the channel ID is wrong, or the employee's Slack permission is off. The briefing still appears in Chat.

Security and disconnecting

What PW keeps
The Slack workspace name and ID, the permissions you granted, and the bot token Slack issued. Never your password. Channel names you ask for in Chat are also kept in your employee's chat history.
Encryption
Tokens are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before they are stored and are only decrypted server-side at the moment an allowed action runs.
Disconnecting
Open Connections, choose the platform and press Disconnect. You can also remove PW's access from the provider's own app settings.
Deletion
Disconnecting deletes the stored tokens and switches off every permission for that account. Activity records stay in your audit log.
